OTAGO HALL OF FAME CRITERIA

 



 

NOMINATION SUBMISSION:

  • If you are nominating someone, you must have the nominee’s express consent to do so and their agreement to be bound by the terms of this promotion. By ticking the box on the submission form, the nominator agrees that they have permission to nominate and supply the image and text for all uses associated with the OHOF. 

  • All nominations must include a photo and supporting biography describing the recipient and why they deserve the award. If a photo is not accessible at the time of submission and the nominee is selected as a finalist, a photo must be supplied no later than October 29th 2020.. 

  • Images and text supplied will be used in the exhibition at Otago Museum and may be used in associated promotion should the applicant feature as a finalist. We reserve the right to edit text (for grammar and spelling). Word limit: 250

  • OHOF will accept nominations on behalf of another, and self-nominations. 

  • Nominees must be residents of the Otago region.

  • The nominee and/or nominator agree that if selected by the promoter, the promoter can record them and disseminate such recordings in connection with this promotion, on the promoter’s radio and online platforms.

  • The winners agree to have their photo taken and consent to the promoter sharing those photos on its online platforms.

  • The promoter may pass on winners’ contact details to the promotion partners for the sole purposes of providing the prize. All personal information will be managed in accordance with the Privacy Act.

THE ROLE OF OUR JUDGES

Each Judge is expected to fully participate in the judging process. They will:
Use their knowledge and experience to assess entries.
Provide written comments on the first placed award winners.
Attend the Awards event. It is important that the judges are there to meet all award finalists, sponsors and guests and to be accessible to them.

JUDGING PROCESS

Below is a summary of this year’s judging process:

  • All entries and nominations will be sent to the MediaWorks Awards team by October 23rd, 2020.
    All entities and nominations will be collated into their categories.

  • All entries and nominations will be checked for eligibility and accuracy.

  • An internal MediaWorks panel will select the top five entrants for each category.
    The confirmed top five entries for each category will be sent to the Judging Panel for review.  

  • Each Judge will independently review the entries and make their recommendation for first, second, and third place for each category by October 27th, 2020.
    Written comments will be provided for their recommended winner in each category.
    Each category will then have a shortlist of the top three entries. 

In light of a draw, all judges are to meet to discuss an outcome on October 27th, 1230pm.
This information will be announced on October 28th, 2020 via The Breeze Breakfast Show.
By the end of this process, each category will also have a Winner.

By entering into this Otago Hall Of Fame promotion (the Promotion), you agree to all of these terms and conditions.

 

Promotion Details

 

Entry Period

 

  • Entry opens on 28 September 2020 at 6:00 am and closes on 23 October 2020 at 5:00 pm (Entry Period). 

  • The winners will be announced on 14 November 2020.

 

How to Enter

  • Entry is via www.otagohalloffame.co.nz

  • To be eligible for the prize, entrants must fill out the relevant entry form in full during the Entry Period.

  • Entrants may enter as many times as they like via the website entry method.

  • Website entries open on 28 September 2020 and close 23 October 2020.

  • Out of all valid entries, the Promoter will select their top 5 entries for each category and these top five entries for each category will be sent to the Judging Panel for review.  

  • Each Judge will independently review the entries and make their recommendation for first, second, and third place for each category by October 27th 2020. Written comments will be provided for their recommended winner in each category.

  • Each category will then have a shortlist of the top three entries (the “Finalists”). 

  • In light of a draw, all judges are to meet to discuss an outcome on October 27th, 1230pm.

  • The finalists will be announced on October 28th 2020 via The Breeze Breakfast Show.

  • By the end of this process, each category will also have a Winner. 

  • Each winner will be selected on a general consensus basis of Judges’ recommendation of first, second, and third place for each category.

  • The Winners will be announced during the Awards event on November 14th.

  • The 27 Finalists, will have their entries posted on social media (https://www.facebook.com/otagohalloffame) and website (www.otagohalloffame.co.nz), and will be on display at Otago Museum (419 Great King Street North, North Dunedin, Dunedin 9016), where the public will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite finalist between 6:00 am on 2 November 2020 to 5:00 pm on 12 November 2020 (“Voting Period”). 

  • Finalists will be required to attend the Awards Breakfast held onsite at Otago Museum on 14 November 2020 at 10.30am. 


 

Winner Selection

  • The Finalist with the most public votes at the close of voting will be declared the winner of the People's Choice Award.

 

Major Prize Details

 

As part of this Promotion the winner(s) will receive No prizes, just a trophy, certificate and invitation. The winner of each of the ten categories.   


 

Conditions

  • Promotion conditions include:

    • Entrants may be any age, but if they are under the age of 18, they must have permission from their parent(s) or guardian(s) to enter.

    • Entrants must be residents of Dunedin.

    • If you are nominating someone, you must have that nominee’s express consent to do so. The nominee must agree to be bound by the terms of this Promotion.

    • Entrants agree that, if selected by the promoter, the promoter can record them and disseminate such recordings in connection with this Promotion.

    • Entrants agree that their phone calls or any recordings or other assets they provide as part of the promotion may be played on air or put on the promoters online platforms. 

    • The winner agrees to have their photo taken and consents to the Promoter sharing that photo on its online platforms.

    • Where the prize includes home or property improvements and you are not the owner of the property, you must have the home owner’s consent before entering into the Promotion.

    • The Promoter may pass on a winner’s details to the Promotion partner for the purposes of providing the prize.

  • The Rules that apply to this Promotion are the Specific Rules (being the rules set out above), together with the General Rules.

  • By entering into this Promotion, you agree to the Rules and confirm that you have the necessary authority (for example from the bill payer or owner of a telephone) to enter into the Promotion.
